“The Lord is knocking at the door of our hearts. Have we put a sign on the door saying “do not disturb?”~Pope Francis

I often think of the innkeeper who turned away Mary and Joseph, and the still unborn Jesus. It’s easy to criticize him in our minds. How could someone turn down a woman in labor and send her to a stable in wintertime to give birth? Yet so often we resemble the innkeeper. Jesus is knocking on the door of our hearts. We open the door just a crack, but not all the way. We want to hide certain rooms from Him. We keep the door shut when we want to continue pursuing our own sin and disobedience. Quietly He stands and knocks, waiting for us to the open the door. Jesus pursues us relentlessly. Are you listening, and are you willing to open the door of your heart?

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with Me.”~Revelation 3:20
