It’s All About Moments.

Life is made up of moments. Some people don’t give much power to a moment. “It’s only one.” This gives them an excuse to create destructive habits or to live life without intention or purpose. Each moment is adding up to a future, whether we realize it or not. It is moments that change our lives!

  • Moments of choosing to believe lies from the Enemy or the lies that others have told us about ourselves.
  • Moments of choosing to love when you don’t “feel like it.”
  • The moment you choose to respond with peace instead of losing your temper.

  • The moment you meet your spouse, whether something dramatic takes place within you or not.
  • The moment when your child is placed into your arms for the very first time.
  • The moment you forgive and let go of what happened years ago, or even a few months ago. You release yourself and release that person.
  • A moment in which you choose to communicate with the other person rather than assume the worst about their motives.
  • The moment a person chooses to reach for the phone and seek authentic relationship instead of porn, alcohol, or drugs.
  • The moment your perspective forever changes due to an experience or a sickness that could have taken your life–but you’re still here.
  • The moment in which you choose love over fear.

It is in each moment that we choose to become a lesser version of ourselves, or to become the image that our Creator had in mind when He lovingly molded us in our mother’s womb.

Moments are what add up to make a life! Be open to each moment and what it has to teach you. Live each moment fully present. God is working through all of them. And in the moments you never expect, He will do miracles!

Blessing is Beyond Fear

I have written before about open doors and my dream come true. Finally, the dream was almost here!

The week of my trip had arrived! However, I wasn’t feeling the jubilation that I had anticipated. In fact, I was feeling completely stressed out and weary. I didn’t realize how much my stressful job had taken a toll on me, especially nearly a year of work with barely any time off. I got sick days before leaving. Two days before my flight there was a big work event for my program, which didn’t help my stress or my health. Time was short and I felt like more and more was being added to my list to do before leaving. I felt overwhelmed.

I called a friend for support. It was the night before my flight and I was so worn out. My friend was firm with me and very honestly told me that he thought I was afraid & that my sickness was caused by apprehension. He told me to stop worrying so much about the packing and other details and to get ready for a great trip. I pondered his words. Even though I had dreamed for years and years of Africa, perhaps deep down I was a little afraid. I’m accustomed to my predictable daily life. So much was unknown about this trip. I was definitely going to be thrown out of my comfort zone. I was afraid of the unknowns and what could go wrong instead of being joyful about my dream finally coming true.

I finally got packed and stopped worrying about what I could be forgetting. I still had a minor cold on the plane ride, but my stress melted away as the plane traveled closer to the place I had loved and dreamed of visiting for so long. I let go of all my worries from home and prayed and journaled on the flight. From beginning to end, the trip was a blessing. Why had I been so apprehensive? It was for nothing! The trip was one of the biggest blessings of my life. The way the Lord provided for this trip was a miracle, and so was all the ways that He provided and worked while we were there. I have been to Africa. It was the first time, but I know…It is only the beginning.forblog.jpg

When we are afraid, there are blessings beyond the fear. Let go of the fear you tightly grip onto, and let God! You never know what the blessings are that lay beyond your fears.

You Are Not Stuck

Feelings of hopeless situations and being stuck keep us there. It’s like someone in deep mud. They realize that they are stuck, and they stay in the mud as they continue to sink deeper and deeper. Because they are already stuck and sinking, they don’t believe there is a way out of the mud.

So, in certain situations where I was not moving forward, can you guess why there was no progress? It was my attitude keeping me stuck. Because I believed that the situation wouldn’t change, it didn’t. I kept sinking deeper into the belief that things were the way they were, and that was that.

I wasn’t thinking outside of the box. I failed to remember that faith moves mountains. When I thought certain situations would stay the way they were–they did. Sadly, I failed to remember that we serve a God bigger than any situation we will ever face. Our God can do anything, and believe me–there are some pretty creative ways that He changes situations and help us out!

I have been reflecting a lot on Ephesians 3:20: “Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” His mighty power is at work within us-wow! Are our thoughts and attitudes cooperating with that mighty power?

As God has blown me away with open doors, and situations have changed that seemed but a dream, I have begun to work harder on shedding those attitudes that keep me stuck. As my attitudes have changed, new possibilities and realities are coming into view. Living in faith is living in freedom!

I am ready to put on the attitude of faith and expectation, ready for the miracles that are sure to come. I am stepping out of the mud. How about you?

Really, Nothing Is Impossible

Remember my previous post about open doors ? My friends, the power of God is REAL! You never know what God is preparing behind the scenes. You have no idea how your all-powerful Father can literally turn it all around in an instant! No matter where you are in life, God is above it! The circumstances we think are impossible are–if we are thinking on human terms. But with our awesome God, nothing is impossible.

There was a door in my life that I thought was shut.  It was locked tight. I thought that the key

would not be handed to me for a long time, due to circumstances. I had faith that it would happen…Yet I had pounded on doors, prayed, and hoped for many years. It even brought me to tears sometimes, the hope was so strong. Once again, it seemed that I would have to wait another year, or many more. I felt stuck. The dream seemed to be going nowhere.

Then…With one conversation, that door OPENED WIDE! I must step through it

boldly, with praise and thanksgiving. I couldn’t have predicted this in any way. I didn’t do anything to deserve it! I am in awe of the ways our Father is looking out for us and guiding us. Even a month later, it still seems surreal! I will finally be one step closer to pursuing a long-time dream! Stepping through this door will help me further discern my life path and some big decisions.

All I can say is that we have a good, good Father. If you’re continually running into closed doors, don’t doubt Him…It will be so, so sweet when He opens that door just right for you!

All glory be to my Lord Jesus Christ, now and forever!

“I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name.”~Revelation 3:8

The God of Open Doors.

During this season, there are many people waiting on open doors. I sense that this will be a big year for a lot of people. In fact, when I think of my friends and acquaintances, it is hard to recall someone who isn’t discerning some sort of change in their life path. I myself am seeking another path. However, these steps will not be achieved overnight. They take prayer, discernment, and trial and error. Our steps must be directed by the LORD. Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that,”many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”  We must wait for open doors.  We ourselves cannot open the doors. They are locked, until Jesus directs us to our open door. It’s not to say that every open door is worth walking through–sometimes we can walk through a door and find that we’ve walked into something we shouldn’t have. In these cases we must continue to search. During these seasons of waiting and journeying towards new paths, it can feel like doors are slamming in our face, over and over. We can grow tired of knocking and getting no answer. It can feel frustrating as we try to turn the key in numerous doors, but they just won’t open for us.  Trust that it will be worth it to walk through the door that Christ has opened for you.

I came across this great word. It’s worth a watch. I like how Stephanie keeps it within the realm of God’s will–we must not think of the closed doors as rejection, but redirection by our loving Father to something better!

Dear friend, keep walking! Keep to the path of righteousness. Your Father has prepared you a room, and you will come to your open door. Be patient, keep seeking and asking, and don’t give up knocking!
